Going for the first day in the office and you think that you should know everything. Well, You don’t have to because no one is expecting you to. But you still have to try and impress your co-workers and employer while you try to gel in and figure things out. The first day is used to set the tone for your ride in that office. If you say something that’s not supposed to be or is off, it could set the tone, and could also become one of the reasons that you’re released after your probation period, i.e., first three months.
Here are some of the things that you must do on your first day:
- Arrive early and Stay late
- Dress to impress
- Practice introducing yourself because you’ll have to give lots of those on the first day
- Ask questions
- Listen and observe- This is the best thing you can do in the early days and listen to the plans that your boss has for the company
- Get an early win by identifying an immediate contribution you can make to the team. This will help you generate a positive perception.
